Which Ntek OMNI sound source is right for your measurement?

Ntek offers four OMNI omnidirectional sound sources for professional acoustic testing. They share the same core purpose—radiating sound uniformly for insulation and reverberation-time measurements—but differ in portability, output, size and intended environment.

Ntek OMNI 2 inch XS front view

OMNI 2” XS

Best for: Confined spaces, NVH, naval, aerospace and highly portable measurement work.

Ntek OMNI 4 inch LT front view

OMNI 4” LT

Best for: General building and architectural acoustics where low weight and portability matter.

OMNI 4” HP

Best for: Larger testing environments where higher output is needed while keeping the source manageable.

OMNI 5”

Best for: Large environments and applications prioritising strong low-frequency output and traditional dodecahedral construction.

Quick selection guide

  • Need the smallest and easiest-to-carry source? Start with OMNI 2” XS.
  • Need a lightweight general-purpose source? Consider OMNI 4” LT.
  • Need higher output in a larger testing environment? Consider OMNI 4” HP.
  • Need a larger source with strong low-frequency capability? Consider OMNI 5”.

The OMNI 5” is not automatically the best choice simply because it is larger. OMNI 4” HP has the highest listed maximum sound power level, while OMNI 5” offers a larger traditional source and 350 + 350 W maximum power. Room size, portability, frequency/output requirements and the complete amplifier arrangement should guide the decision.

OMNI sound sources and the rest of the Ntek system

Frequently asked questions

Which OMNI model is the easiest to carry?

OMNI 2” XS is the lightest at 2.5 kg. OMNI 4” LT is the lightest of the two 4-inch sources at 4.5 kg.

Do I need a tripod?

Ntek states that OMNI 2” XS does not require a tripod for support. The other models should be configured with the appropriate tripod or support accessories for the measurement arrangement.
